Future Examples of Artificial Intelligence; Sense of Humor

Author: Lance Winslow

As we make breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and begin to build the robotic android assistants of the future we will be faced with many programming challenges you see. For instance human-machine bonding issues, trust and even something as simple as a sense of humor, which pleases humans in normal human-to-human interactions. Unfortunately something we humans perceive as simple is not so simple to program. Yet, true artificial intelligence ought to be able to create a joke and tell it on its own, without simply being pre-programmed to say a known human line of comedy you see?

A difficult task indeed and this is why it was recently brought up in an online think tank. One online thinker; Mr. Keith Rowell states; I would be curious to see any examples you can show of how intended humor from AI was successful.

Excellent point; Indeed, me too, I am very interested in this subject now that you have re-brought it to my attention. I am curious as well and maybe this is what our artificial intelligent programmers need to design, curious inquisitive artificial intelligence, which will go and seek information and perhaps it may find its own solution for creativity and then it can explain it back to all of us who study the human mind and cannot for the life of figure out how it all works or why?

Just think an Artificial Intelligent Robot to work along humans as assistants while being the funniest person on the crew or team. Interesting indeed. Perhaps we should consider all this in 2006; it appears to be possible, but it is going to be the ultimate challenge indeed.
