What if Taxpayers Change Their Minds on the NASA Mission?

Author: Lance Winslow

Will America continue its promise to its Mission to the Moon and Mars or will the electorate pull back and vote to divert taxpayers monies from NASA to social services or other endeavors at home?

So often Science Fiction authors keying off the seventies movement to cut the budget of NASA in trade for funding problems at home during downturns in the business cycle; will write in their novels of how complications arise when budget cuts in the space program are cut. In fact Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke and Ben Bova had often carried this theme. How do we know it will not happen again? Or rather how can we prevent it from happening?

Well to answer the question we need to understand what people spend their personal monies on and what they value;

1.) People will spend money to be entertained

2.) People want security and piece of mind

3.) Education for their children

Thus the answer to insuring the flow of funds and the blessing of the taxpayers for NASA funding we must integrate these things. I therefore recommend fully promoting;

A.) Space Tourism

B.) Imax style Entertainment

C.) Virtual and Augmented Reality so all people can experience space

D.) Advantages of R and D which can be used in Military

E.) Remind of transfer technologies from past space efforts

The things we learn will assist us in discovering new materials to build stronger homes that can withstand Hurricanes, medicines to cure disease and more efficient energy sources for everything from our Cars to our Jumbo Jets. But that is not all, you see.

It is part of the American Spirit to boldy go to explore the unknown. It is one of the fundamentals, which propels our nation to never live in mediocrity or rest on our laurels. We are a strong people and we must fulfill our destiny to press on and to never give up.
