Hypnoanalysis ? Symptom and Cause

Author: Glenn Catt

Hypnotherapy has been in use for many hundreds and possibly thousands of years. Taken from the Greek word Hypnos (sleep) Hypnotherapy has been responsible for Thousands of people relieving themselves of various symptoms that was otherwise Un-treated or dismissed by other practitioners.

The state of Hypnosis is often described as Total relaxation coupled with heightened awareness and despite popular belief a Hypnotherapist can not make an individual do or perform anything that is against the individuals wishes.

Hypnoanalysis whilst used with the state of Hypnosis has proven to be extremely successful with problems of a more complex nature. Hypnoanalysts believe that our Forming years have an enormous effect on us as adults. It is believed that as children various events throughout childhood can and will be repressed by the subconscious mind, these events can appear trivial to an adult mind but at the time they are experienced by a child can and will appear traumatic. Hence the young mind would repress the incident concerned for it never to be recalled.

It is then considered that the various repressions would in adult life create symptoms either directly or indirectly linked to a repression. Where a symptom exists we must have a cause. A simple example of this would be a child shut or locked into a cupboard in the forming years that in later life would show signs of being claustrophobic, however this adult could show an indirect symptom attached to the trauma.

It is the function of the Therapist to help an individual to find the repressed incident whilst under Hypnosis. This in fact is very successful when specialist Hypnoanalysts Are used. A qualified Hypnoanalyst should help an individual to a successful conclusion in twelve weeks or less, however a conclusion would not be found in less than six weeks. This time scale is excellent considering the length of time some therapies can take. Probably the largest association in the world of this type of therapist is The International Association of Hypnoanalysts which is based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, membership is by invitation only.

This association supplies excellent support to its members coupled with extensive advanced training, In addition all members practice to a strict code of ethics.
