Tropical Storm Alberto

Author: Lance Winslow

Looks as if we have a Tropical Type System brewing? What? In February, indeed and this is what weather meteorologists and amateur weather observers are saying. Recently "The Weather Woman" a self-taught weather expert in Southern Florida said Whoa! We have convection and spinning circulation. And it is good to see she is keeping an eye out for all of us, because we will have an early Hurricane Season this year and it will probably sneak up on everyone because they are busy thinking about other things.

This would be something if we got a Tropical System this early in the year. Which would indeed set us up for another Record Breaking Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season.

It seems that the trade winds are weaker than normal in the middle of the Caribbean since there is little if any high pressure are in the Western Atlantic. But also seems like a Cold Front could enter the area there, which would increase winds. Hard to say if that is an issue?

Although if we look at the Surface Water Temps it is an issue, still as those temps are very high indeed with a nice little path of 80-degree water into the middle of the Gulf. The Jet Stream is at an interesting point right now too not a lot to take out that system, but there are fronts moving upon it now or could be trapping it.

Could the Caribbean produce a named Tropical Storm in February? Sounds crazy although after the 2006 Atlantic Hurricane Season, nothing seems impossible. Long Term weather forecasters are indeed intrigued and believe that this is a foreshadowing of things to come. What do you think? Will Alberto form or fold in February, we all know he is coming sure as the Sun will rise, but will this be the month? Consider this in 2006.
