HBO boxing is a series of exciting television shows on the cable network known as HBO wherein boxers vie for championship status. Boxing is one of the most widely known sports today. Boxing caters to various genres of people. There are people who follow the sport for the sheer techniques involved in the game, while others keep-up-to-date with the sport for the larger-than-life people and the various controversies and events that constantly occur in the boxing world.

Many people all over the world watch boxing and schedule their evenings around what boxing matches can be viewed on television. Boxing has major media presence as it draws a tremendous audience. HBO, a cable TV network has taken full advantage of boxing popularity by dedicating much of their programming to the sport. It has shown some of boxings greatest fights and stories and events related to boxing for over 30 years. Boxing matches have featured some of the greatest fighters in the world including Muhammad Ali who won the world heavyweight championship three times and beat Joe Frazier, in the infamous Thrilla in Manila match. HBO also covered the biggest upset in history when Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson. The first match ever shown on HBO was fought in Kingston, Jamaica, when George Foreman defeated Joe Frazier in two rounds and went on to the World Heavyweight title.

HBO has also broadcast spin-off series relating to boxing including Boxing After Dark, and KO Nation. They even produced a video game HBO Boxing for Sony PlayStation.
