How Does Collagen Work And Why Does It Help Prevent Wrinkles?

Author: Gregg Hall

Does anyone in there right mind what to deal with the effects of aging like wrinkled faces, saggy skin, and achy joints? If you answered yes then you have problems more severe than I can help you with.

Humanity has been enthralled with the thought of being able to roll back time or find a Fountain of Youth, and no wonder, getting old is a pain. I saw a T-shirt once that said, "Getting old isn't for sissies". That statement is so true. I do have good news though; it's never too late to take steps towards reversing the aging process or at least slowing it down. A lot of the problems I just mentioned are created by collagen loss.

Collagen is the component in our body that basically helps hold us together. It is present in our skin, bones, cartilage and other connective tissues and is crucial to maintaining a youthful body and appearance. The reason that many of us feel we are rapidly falling downhill when it comes to the aging process is because we are! Science has proven that beginning at twenty five we begin to lose collagen at the rate of 1.5% a year which means that by age sixty we have lost over 50% of the collagen we had as a 25 year old! No wonder we feel old, we have lost more than half of the substance that protects our synovial fluids and cartilage from degenerating.

Wrinkles and sagging skin are the result of the loss of collagen in our skin as well other signs of aging such as patchy dry skin. There are supplements that can help reverse this and slow it down.

Now that you understand how collagen holds us together and how important it is to our bodies you should appreciate the need for supplementation to help reduce the loss. There are many different collagen supplements on the market today which work to help restore the substance in our bodies. You will begin to feel less joint pain and see an improvement in skin condition after getting on a regimen of supplementation.

Collagen supplements are all natural and not harmful to you in any way and the benefits of taking them include revitalizing your skin and keeping it healthy, reducing the occurrence of fine lines and wrinkles, strengthening your nails and improving the condition of your hair.

The best use of the supplements is to take it before exercise and strenuous physical activity as it works to help increase energy and performance. These supplements also help to renew lean muscle and help in fat metabolism helping you maintain and manage your weight.
