Love - Caring for Each Other

Author: Amiria Te Whaiti

Is 'Caring' a form of Love? To identify an answer, we must first ask -'What is Caring?'

According to the English Custom Dictionary, 'caring' is - carefulness, thoughtfulness, sensitivity, consideration.

There are many situations in life where one can display the above 'Caring' attributes, but to measure the depth of such display, would be the true test of 'caring' and of 'love!'

Ask yourself the following questions -

  • In what ways have you displayed that you have accepted each other's likes and dislikes?

  • How, and how often, have you shown that your partner's comfort is very important to you?

  • Do you honestly try not to hurt each other, but to keep each other happy?

  • Are you supportive of your partner?

If, upon reflection, you both agree that you genuinely try to live such a life with each other, then you both are very lucky, for you display deep loving and caring attributes. Such attributes can invariably control the rocky and turbulent times in your relationship, and any repercussions, which can appear from time to time, will be discussed and accepted. This example is the ideal 'Soulmate' relationship.

Saying "I love you" but not caring about your partner, lessens the depth of your love, and prompts the following questions -

  • Do you feel that you truly understand how to keep your partner happy and contented then act on that understanding? - Do you want to understand?

  • If your partner is suffering mentally, emotionally or physically, how have you demonstrated your care and support? - And even when your partner becomes negative and demanding because of such suffering, how long would you continue to offer quality care and support?

  • How often do you display the above behavior continuously, sometimes, or hardly ever - if at all?

Relationships are difficult and sometimes unbearable, but by being truthful when answering the above questions, gives an indication of whether you and your partner are truly committed to each other.

Caring with commitment is a deep form of expressing your love for each other and is the most ideal attribute in a relationship. Without this deep commitment, a relationship cannot hope to attain enlightenment in the field of loving another Soul!

  • Does your relationship offer a deep, caring commitment to each other?

  • Do you both share the same values and beliefs, or are you in conflict?

  • How much do you really have in common?

Only you can answer truthfully to all of the questions above!
