Wedding Favour Tins, Boxes or Bags?

Author: Emily Tanner

When selecting your wedding favours, how do you distinguish between wedding favour tins, wedding favour boxes and wedding favour bags?

Of course, there are many reasons why each one would suit your wedding and your wedding theme must be foremost in your mind. However, what it really boils down to is your choice of confectionery.

For example, a wedding favour tin is better suited to a handful of mints, a candle favour or indulgent sugar balls. This is largely due to the fact that 5 dragees or almonds would rattle around in a wedding favour tin, giving your wedding guests the impression that you have cut corners.

Ideally, a wedding favour tin should be full to bursting with delicious candy to give your guests the illusion of "plenty." Younger guests will also have a preference for this type of favour as they are guaranteed lots of sweets! This will always make their day and put a smile on their little faces.

Another benefit of the wedding favour tin is that there will be no fussing around with ribbon and decoration. If you are a no-nonsense type of bride, then a wedding favour tin will suit you perfectly as once the tin is filled, it is ready to hand out to the guest.

The wedding favour box, on the other hand, is also a very popular choice for many reasons. There is such a vast selection when it comes to choosing a box to enclose your candy. Whether you're seeking an ivory heart shaped diamante favour box or a pale gold Gents Tuxedo box, you're guaranteed to impress your guests.

Due to their individuality, favour boxes can be very much tailored to the particular theme of your wedding. For example, you may wish to finish your favour box with some gingham ribbon and a pink ribbon rose. To co-ordinate with this theme, the favour box can then be filled with delicious pink chocolate dragees or pink smeraldina almonds. Favour boxes are very much geared towards these fillings and usually filled with 5 pieces each.

Lastly there is the wedding favour bag, which is being used more regularly as a wedding favour. The beauty of a wedding favour bag is it's versatility. Whether you are giving your guests personalised chocolate bars, coasters, candles, soaps or sweets they look fantastic when presented in a paper wedding favour bag [such as a mini gift bag] or in a drawstring organza bag. The actual favour does need not match your wedding theme, but as long as the bag itself matches, then you are covered!

Whether you choose a wedding favour tin, a favour box or a favour bag, you must select a favour that suits you and your theme. And don't underestimate the importance of the goodies inside - pearlised sugar balls would just not be suitable for a drawstring organza bag and a personalised candy bar would look out of place in a wedding favour box [not to mention the fact that it probably wouldn't fit!].
