Audio Conferencing

Author: Eric Morris

Nowadays, almost all businesses have clients based in other countries. Given this, a demand for an effective and practical way of keeping constant communication between businesses that are separated by great distances has been created. One of the first technologies that has been developed to respond to this demand is Phone Conferencing is a form of audio conferencing that uses technology that connects two speaker phones for the purpose of conducting a conference in real time. This technology involves companies providing this conferencing service to other companies at lower rates as compared to the rates of placing a long-distance call. Since its inception, phone conferencing has been able to provide businesses with an effective way to communicate with their clients all around the world.

Types of phone conferencing

There are two types of phone conferencing that are available. One type is the automated phone conferencing, wherein the parties to the call conduct the conference without operator assistance. In this set up, a user of the service is just provided with a password that he can use to make the outgoing call to the other party. The other type of phone conferencing is the operator-assisted conferencing wherein an operator who would brief them about the agenda of the conference and other matters to be discussed greets both parties. One benefit of having operator assistance is that the operator can make sure that there would be no technical glitches during the conference, and if there are any; the operator could address them immediately.

Features

Apart from being able to conduct conferences using this technology, new features have been added to it with the aim of enhancing the conferencing experience. One of these is that the technology has now been equipped with a recording feature, which allows the parties of the conference to go back to what has been said at a later time without having to make another call. Another feature is the mute feature, which allows parties to minimize background noise and is useful in cases of emergency.

One of the first technologies that were developed to meet the demand for businesses to maintain constant communication with their clients in other countries is phone conferencing, which is a type of audio conferencing. Since its inception, this pioneer technology has been successful at providing effective and practical means by which conferences can be held between parties separated by great distances, and the development of new technologies to enhance this technology will further contribute to this success.
