Wireless Phone Headsets

Author: Alison Cole

Wireless phone headsets make it possible to carry out tasks in the office or at home that you could never to before. You're at your desk on the phone with a client and you need a really important file - no problem with a wireless phone headset you can keep talking, get up and grab the file you need. Your client will be impressed because you kept the conversation going by having the information you needed at your fingertips.

To make communicating even better, GN Netcom has introduced the GN Netcom 9050 2.4 Ghz Wireless Amp. You can clip it to your belt and walk 150 away without disturbing the phone conversation you are having.

To set up the system you connect the base station to a standard office phone and handset. You plug the handset cord into the base station and then connect the phone cord from the base station to your office phone. You then plug in the AC adapter and charge the battery. Before you know it, you?re ready to roll.

Base stations have some setting to deal with as well including the tone control to adjust incoming sound and a transmit control to adjust the volume of the caller. Most wireless phone headsets allow about 100 to 150 feet for roam range, but you have to make sure that the base station is positioned away from interference like your computer. Another new find to enhance wireless headsets is the LibertyLink device. It can deliver up to 25 hours of talk time on a single double-A battery. A similar product, the Bluetooth headset and the JabraFreeSpeak run about $130, and the LibertyLink runs about $60.
