Life - The Search

Author: Teow Aun Chew

Everyone is searching, but for what? Most people say that they must first see or know of the unanswerable things before they begin. Unfortunately, as one waits for the answer, time is running out. Many do not realize and the search may be too late. Usually man often asks what the Universe is made of? Where is Heaven? What type of place is it? All these questions cannot be fully answered and an answer they will not obtain.

When a person is dying of poison, before he seeks medical help, he wants to know what type of poison he has taken, who was the culprit and when was the poison put into his food, he may be too late. No medicine may be found or help him at all.

Urgency of time is very important in the search for Truth. It is the priority of all things and should be for all to seek an immediate way to end the misery and pain caused by birth, old age, sickness and death. Truth is given in many forms. It is passed on by various teachers and masters. If one follows it with faith, the Path that you will find will lead you back to Heaven. Many people ask what is the Path? Where is the Path? How can one find it? All Paths that lead are the Way. Do not search afar for it, it is merely within sight. All things begin from the mind. Control the state of mind well, and with right sense and sincerity, one will find it. Either it will come to you or you will find it right in front of you.

Training the mind is very important. Like a house that has bad roofing, rain will surely fall into it. Likewise, in an untrained mind, all illusions will take place. In the search of life and Truth, man knows not its beginning, and everything has its truth. A storm will not last forever and no rain will not cease. Understand it well and understand it with realization. Realize in the right manner and the Truth one will find. Attractions are plentiful but when it is all gone, the impurities can be sighted and when it can be sighted, one can see the Truth and its innermost beauty and brightness.

The search may be long and difficult; perseverance and faith will guide one through. Have faith in the right manner and do not seek beneficial things. Faith is shown with compassion and all things may be clearly shown in many forms. Distinguish the Truth from an illusion. If illusion controls the action, then all things will run haywire and one will never find the right path home.

Everyone wishes to obtain but one may not know the right manner to get it in order to see the right direction. In order to remain calm and in a stillness form, three things one must not forget: the Essence, Vitality and Spirit. Combine them well and the spirit will guide us. Essence and Vitality are important as nourishment for the Spirit. When the Spirit is in its proper form, then the mind will be in control. When the mind is in control, one will maintain a stillness form. Remain in stillness, yet all things are done. There is no action seen but nothing is left undone. These are the mystics of the Truth. The right state of mind must be in control and one can see clearly about life and the right direction.

My Heavenly teacher JiGong said, "The Tao of Heaven is very precious. A year passes and a year comes. When the great Tao is in Nirvana (latency), no where can Tao be sought and studied. No matter how much money you have, you can't buy the flowing back of time. False Truth can only last for a while, but it cannot last long. One should cultivate and practise according to the principle and essence of the scriptures as handed down by the Saints of the Five Religions (Sakyamuni Buddha, Lao Tze, Confucius, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammad). That only is the right way."
