Get More With Less Work: Higher Auction Prices On eBay Can Be Yours

Author: Chris Ryerson

There are tons of people that are now making full time living from eBay and online auction sites like it. There are even more that are making a really nice second income to supplemental their full time job. If you are an active seller on eBay on of the biggest hurdles every serious seller has to make is from the occasional lister to a professional seller. Moving your eBay business form a hobby to a valid business can be difficult. There are many things to think about. One way to help move your business from a fun hobby that provides a little extra cash to a full fledged business that provide tons of extra money is to work on getting higher closing bids. This seems obvious yet many sellers struggle to find ways to eek out extra profits from their listings.

There are some simple things that anyone can easily do when listing the will improve the profitability of an auction. These tips will help close auctions with higher bids and end more auctions with a successful closing bid.

Many sellers on ebay are content to list items quickly and they rather get lots of items up for sale and try to earn money through having more auctions up at any one time. This is a fine way to do business if you are willing to manage a ton of auction listings at any one time. However if you want to have less auctions listed at any one time and still remain profitable then a little extra work on the auction listing will go a long way.

Clean Photos

One way to make sure the items you have listed on eBay do better is to provide good pictures. Again many seller simple dont want to take the time to get good photographs of the item they are selling. They will use stock images from a drop shipper at best or if they take their own photos of a product many are content to post images that are blurry, poorly lit and do not provide a very flattering view of the product. If you want to make extra on your auctions and have more items sell then take the time to get some really good pictures and make sure you always list at least one picture per item. Often the more pictures you put into a listing the better the average selling price will be for that product.

Great Description

Another area where many sellers that are rushed for time fail is by providing unclear descriptions of the items. Take the time to write in clear and grammatically correct English. Explain in a much detail as possible about the product you have up for sale. Let the user know the condition of the item and any important details they might need to know. If you can provide model numbers, manufacturer information and details about the item. You also want this to be clear and easy to read. If you auction copy is long then make sure you use headings and sub headings so the view can scroll to the information they are seeking.

Use HTML

If at all possible it can really help if you use HTML. There are many programs and even auction templates that can help you if you are not a programmer. By adding a little HTML in your auction your auction will look professional. Buyers are more willing to spend a little more if they feel they can trust the seller and by having a great looking auction listing that effectively uses some HTML you will help give this impression. This is what takes you from an occasional seller listing junk from their garage to a serious eBay seller with a business behind them. This will entice buyers to look for your auctions and seek you out.

As you can see by providing a little extra for your auctions you can easily increase the number of bids you receive for each item and more of your items will end in a successful sale. These are just three beginning tips as there are many other things you can do. However focus on building your eBay business strategically and focus your efforts on one area at a time. Dont fall into information overload with two many tips, tricks and tweak. Instead take the advice above and start working on these three simple things. Once you do these things with all your listings then it is time to take your business to the next level and learn some more. Many eBay sellers are not successfully simply because a they dont do anything they get overloaded with information and instead dont change anything and keep selling in the same way.
