High Speed Internet

Author: Seth Miller

In our technology-driven world, life without the Internet is almost unimaginable. The number of people logging on to the World Wide Web is increasing at an unprecedented pace. In view of this ever-increasing traffic on the Internet, newer ways have been designed and developed to expedite access to the web.

High speed Internet refers to an Internet access service which consistently maintains a speed of above 128 Kbps between the final user's equipment and the first Internet router outside the IP network managed by the service provider.

There are different Internet access services which ensure fast access at very economical prices. These services are extremely user-friendly, and the technology is available in different variations to suit different purposes.

The various ways to get high-speed Internet include dial-up service, which means accessing the Internet via telephone lines using a modem. DSL stands for Digital Subscribers Line, where data is digitally transferred through the existing phone lines. Cable Internet refers to accessing the Internet via a cable television connection from various service providers. Satellite service is the latest and the fastest way to access the Internet. Wireless Internet enables one to access the Internet while traveling or when away from the office or home.

Text, animation, graphics, videos, music files and other forms of data are being viewed via the Internet. With a slow connection, these files may take minutes to hours to download, and may slow down the work process as well. This can hinder various commercial and industrial works. To avoid this situation, it has become imperative to maintain a faster Internet access service which allows more usage, at a faster speed and lower price.
