Grow Your Revenue - Where to Advertise

Author: Penelope Housden

Whatever money-making venture you are engaged in on the internet, when you have exhausted the free avenues to promote your website or product, you will profit by paying for some advertising in order to make people more aware of your presence on the internet. This will build your traffic (and mailing list if you have one) more quickly. While writing articles and blogs are excellent ways of bringing in traffic and free to boot it will take a little time for the viral aspect of these to build up. In the meantime, paying to advertise will get you traffic and hopefully sales a lot quicker.

Google Adwords

The most popular method of advertising is by Google Adwords, using the pay per click system. It takes just a few minutes to set up an account, whereby you fix a daily budget and pay a few cents each time someone clicks on the link within your advert. You wont have to pay if no one clicks on it, and Google wont exceed your daily budget. Your advert itself is easy to set up just a headline and two lines of content, plus your website link, or a link to a specially created page. You can also generate more than one advert, with different headlines, or different content, and compare which is the most successful. Whatever works well, and has the best click through rate, bringing targeted visitors to your website, go with that one!

People using the search engine Google.com to find a chosen subject on the internet (such as affiliate, affiliate program, affiliate marketing etc.), will see your advertisement on the right-hand side of the page as they scroll down. The use of many keywords when setting up your Adwords campaign (Google makes suggestions for these), means your adverts will appear on a greater number of searches, and thereby give you more potential customers. By adjusting the daily budget as necessary, or the pay-per-click rate you set, the nearer to the top of Google ad rankings pages you will be aiming for. Your goal is not necessarily to be in the number one spot (this often gets clicked on by unscrupulous people not serious about visiting your website), but an advert on the first page or two is a good placement.

Google Adsense

Just as Google Adwords is a great tool for showing your advert when people use this search engine, by also using Google Adsense you can earn revenue by showing other peoples adverts (related to your site content) on your website, by which you can earn more ad revenue.

As well as Google, there are other pay per click advertising sites, so do some research of your own to find great deals! Other ways of advertising can include ezines and newsletters use the search engines to find the most popular ones on the internet, and those interested in promoting affiliate programs.
