Interesting Accommodation in Australia

Author: Morgan Hamilton

Hello mate. Accommodation in Australia can be a sticky situation. Once you dole out all the greenbacks for airfare to Australia, you may think that there isn't anything that can surprise you anymore (I know that's what I thought). It just isn't the case they do things a whole lot different in the land down under. Just because it is an English speaking country doesn't mean for a second that you won't be surprised once you get to the land downunder!

One of the most well-liked forms of accommodation in Australia is Australia hostels. Aussies travel much more than Americans. The country itself is pristine, unspoiled wilderness, and there is an elegant ruggedness in the Australian soul that is lost to America and Western Europe of today. They don't at all mind living in somewhat spartan environs if the living is easy and the prices are right, and that's exactly what Australia hostels are: spartan and inexpensive. But for me and my wife, 20 people in a room with one toilet to share between the lot of us, staying up all night losing and belting out bawdy songs quickly got old and spite of the great rates, and we were quickly forced to rethink our choice of accommodation in Australia.

The Australia resorts, no matter how delightful and picturesque, were they too expensive when we went on our vacation, and so it was basically left to a a choice between plain old-fashioned camping and hotels. We were successfully Leeward to the amenities for a few nights of hotel accommodation in Australia, where we could have some much needed privacy and a nice soft bed to rest up in, and then off to the wilderness for us.

Because Australians are so often on the go, it isn't at all hard to locate outdoor accommodation in Australia. The two of us already were Barry with our backpacks, and sleeping bags, and it wasn't a problem at all to find tents, pots, pans, portable stoves, and other essential camping gear for extremely affordable rates. We were even able to rent some of it which was convenient since we had no designs on carrying a brand new tent back to the U.S. when we were done.

Of all the different areas that we stayed, I believe the outback had the best accommodation in Australia. Few things on this planet is better than it lying outside all night with the stars as your blanket and the earth as your bed. Most nights, we didn't even bother with the tent because it was the dry season, but water was never an issue in because there were stations within walking distance when we could fill out when needed.
