Doing The Mountain Thing In Georgia

Author: Richard Rspad

Getting away to the fresh air and scenery of the mountains is an American tradition. Georgia offers people in the South such a slice of paradise.

Doing The Mountain Thing In Georgia

You might not think of mountains when you first consider the state of Georgia. Other states come to mind firstVermont, New York, Colorado, just to name a fewbut Georgia has some mountain vistas that can't be beat. The combination of the temperate climate of the South with the beauty of mountain views makes the state the perfect choice for your next vacation destination.

When researching Georgia mountain vacations, one of the first places you will be sure to encounter is Blue Ridge. This town was founded in 1886 as the result of the Marietta and Georgia Railroad's arrival there. It started out as a retreat for people who wanted to enjoy the health benefits of the mineral waters that were located in Blue Ridge. Today, people come to this town for the quaint shops, galleries, eateries and more that line the streets of Blue Ridge, as well as staying in the surrounding mountain area.

Also located in the Blue Ridge area is the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. This railroad connects the towns of Blue Ridge and McCaysville, and offers riders beautiful and breathtaking views of the mountains. It is listed by many travel guides as one of the 'must see' attractions of this area, and a ride on the Railway can prove to be both relaxing and entertaining way to spend some time.

Accommodations for your vacation can be easily found in the Blue Ridge area and the rest of Fannin County. If you enjoy the warm surroundings of a bed and breakfast type establishment, the Aska Mountain Mill Bed and Breakfast located in Blue Ridge (in the Aska Adventure Area) could be just what you are looking for. This bed and breakfast offers just one guest room, but it's a beautiful one bedroom, one bathroom with Jacuzzi suite that's perfect for that romantic retreat. Breakfast is served each morning in your room or on the porch, and amenities include satellite TV and central air and heat. If you are looking to rekindle the fire in your relationship, this is the place.

If you need a break from your everyday life and you're thinking of planning a special trip, the mountainous areas of Georgia provide you with all the relaxation and beauty you're looking for. Take a weekend or a week, and spend some time getting to know the gorgeous countryside surrounding Blue Ridge, travel on the Scenic Railway, or just relax and take in the view. A mountain retreat will leave you feeling great and ready to tackle life when you return to it.
